Police: No Evidence Of Hit-And-Run In Death Of Man In Newark

Newark Police say the death of a man was not a result of a vehicle accident.

Last night an incident caused the closure of the dogleg from Capitol Trail to East Main Street. Police said a male was found unconscious next to the roadway causing them to believe the man was struck by a vehicle.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Although the officers initially believed that the man may have been struck by a vehicle, they later determined that that was not the case. Officials said that further investigation did not find any evidence to support that theory. This incident is believed to be medical-related and not criminal in nature.
