Harrisburg-Area Man Facing Homicide Charge In Fatal Accident In Philadelphia

Regional Desk: On Friday, August 19, 2022, at approximately 2:51 A.M., a fatal accident occurred at Roosevelt Boulevard and Devereaux Avenue in North Philadelphia, according to Philadelphia Police Department Public Information Officer Miguel Torres.

Torres said a Hispanic male was driving a gray Toyota Scion with 34-year-old Izairaliz Espinosa Castro as his passenger.  The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound in the inner lanes of  Roosevelt Boulevard when it struck a light pole.  The driver pulled the passenger out of the vehicle before fleeing the scene on foot said Torres. Philadelphia Fire Department Medics pronounced the female passenger dead on the scene at 2:58 AM.

Torres said that Anthony Ruiz Sotelo, 22-year-old, of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania  was arrested on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Accident Investigation Division Headquarters.  

He has been charged with Accident Involving Death, Homicide by Vehicle, Involuntary Manslaughter, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Tampering with Evidence, Unsafe Speed, and Reckless Driving.
