Report: Delaware State University Student Says She Was Raped On Campus

On Friday the friends of a Delaware State University student contacted First State Update to report an alleged on-campus rape.

The friends who are in contact with the family of the alleged victim have explained the incident to our reporter, however, we’re withholding those details to protect the identity of the student.

We have also obtained a Facebook Live where officers give the family the police report numbers and then tell them they needed an attorney to get a copy of the reports. It is not clear what police agency is investigating the incident.

As required by the Clery Act, Delaware State has reported several alleged rapes on its Daily Crime and Fire Log since the beginning of the year. The log can be found here: https://www.desu.edu/about/police-department/daily-crime-fire-log.

Per the information provided to our reporter, the student’s mother was reportedly in contact with the police near the time of the incident. We’ll have more on that as the story develops.

We have an email into the university’s public information officer for comment.

This story is a developing story.
