Bayhealth welcomes health on the move to central and southern Delaware with Bayhealth Mobile Care, a new 36-foot medical Recreational Vehicle (RV). The rolling clinic will soon hit the streets to provide care to underserved and hard-to-reach communities throughout Delaware.
“Bayhealth Mobile Care will ensure we are doing everything we can to take care of our most vulnerable community members,” said Bayhealth Chief Nurse Executive, Rosi Wurster, DNP, RN, MPH, NEA-BC, CEN. “Bayhealth’s mission is to strengthen the health of our community one life at a time, and sometimes caring for the health of our community goes beyond the walls of our outpatient centers and hospitals.”
Made possible by generous grants from Longwood Foundation and Welfare Foundation, Bayhealth’s Mobile Care unit was designed and built from the ground up to help address the health needs of the communities we serve. Equipped with a private examination room, bathroom and two hearing screening booths, it will offer various health screenings and vaccinations as well as provide educational information throughout the community. The exterior also includes an awning that can extend several feet to provide shade. Bayhealth invested the additional funds needed to secure a state-of-the-art unit made specifically to serve our community where they live and work in Kent and Sussex counties.
“Bayhealth has for many years offered services in central and southern Delaware like those we’ll be offering through Bayhealth Mobile Care. This new unit takes those services to the next level, as well as offering several additional services”, said Bayhealth Foundation President, Lindsay Rhodenbaugh, DMin.
Bayhealth Mobile Care will also enable Bayhealth to continue to serve our community through our on-site occupational health services including hearing tests, physical exams, laboratory work and echocardiograms. These services help to support our local businesses and organizations so that they can continue to support the community in their unique ways.
