Police: Woman Sought In Animal Cruelty Case

Just after 3:00 on Saturday afternoon, Newark Police responded to an apartment in the 100-block of Thorn Lane for a report of an injured dog according to Lt. Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said an investigation determined that on Friday, April 28, the apartment resident left a friend in charge of their Yorkie dog while the resident was out of the apartment.

When the resident returned, the resident found the dog was acting strange, walking oddly, and had a bruise on its body.  The dog was taken to a veterinarian where the dog was found to have suffered from severe injuries said Rubin.

The investigation further found video that the friend left in charge, identified as Syniah Percell, 25, of Marietta, Georgia, had abused the dog while it was under her control said Rubin.

On April 29, an arrest warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Court #11 charging Percell with one count of felony Cruelty to Animals.
