The Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted carjacking that occurred early Sunday morning at Wawa in Newark.
Officials said on July 16, 2023, at approximately 12:19 a.m., troopers responded to Wawa, located at 4651 Ogletown Stanton Road, for an attempted carjacking.
The investigation showed that the victim, a 23-year-old Newark man was pumping gas when two black male suspects approached his driver’s side door. One suspect lifted his shirt and displayed a handgun in his waistband.
After the victim ran away, the suspects attempted to steal the car. However, their attempt was unsuccessful and they escaped in an unidentified vehicle.
There were no reported injuries following the incident. The suspects are described as two black males wearing black masks and dark-colored clothing.
