Man Charged In May Shooting, July Robbery

The Wilmington Police Department has apprehended a suspect in connection with multiple criminal incidents, including a May shooting, a July robbery, and has recovered three stolen motor vehicles. Eighteen-year-old Jayden Robinson has been charged with a range of offenses and has been remanded into custody.

The series of events began on May 16, when officers responded to a shooting incident on the 800 block of Brown Street. At the scene, they discovered a 17-year-old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Detective Brendan Shea from the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to lead the investigation.

Approximately a month later, on July 5, officers were called to respond to a robbery in progress on the 2000 block of Baynard Boulevard.

During both investigations, Detectives identified Jayden Robinson as a suspect in the shooting and the robbery police said Monday. Subsequently, warrants for Robinson’s arrest were obtained.

The apprehension of Jayden Robinson took place the following day, July 6, at around 10:30 a.m. Members of the Safe Streets Task Force, while present on the 2200 block of Spruce Street, noticed an occupied stolen motor vehicle. Acting quickly, officers took Jayden Robinson into custody without incident. Furthermore, during the arrest, law enforcement recovered two additional stolen motor vehicles in the same vicinity according to police.

As a result of the investigation and the evidence gathered, Jayden Robinson has been charged with a series of offenses. These charges include assault in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, reckless endangerment in the first degree (two counts), discharging a firearm on a city street, robbery in the second degree, and receiving stolen property over $1,500.

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was subsequently remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. Bail has been set at $118,500, to be paid in cash.
