Police: Man Suspected In At Least Two Bank Robberies Arrested

Delaware State Police have arrested 57-year-old Brian Adam of Wilmington who was wanted as a suspect in two separate bank robberies that took place in Wilmington several weeks ago.

Officials said the first robbery occurred on June 22, 2023, around 11:39 a.m., at the Citizens Bank inside the Acme grocery store on Naamans Road. The suspect presented a note to the teller and demanded money, successfully fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. The second incident took place on July 5, 2023, at approximately 12:50 p.m., at the M&T Bank on Concord Pike. Once again, the suspect used a note to intimidate the teller and make off with a sum of money police said.

Following these incidents, the Troop 2 Robbery Unit of the Delaware State Police launched an investigation into the robberies. Through detective work, law enforcement was able to identify Brian Adam as the primary suspect. The breakthrough in the case came when troopers and officers from the New Castle County Police Department located Adam walking on Pulaski Highway near Buckley Boulevard in Bear in the early hours of July 16, 2023. The suspect was apprehended without incident.

Brian Adam was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with two felony counts of Theft Over $1,500. The Justice of the Peace Court 11 held an arraignment, and Adam was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $10,000 cash bond. It is important to note that further charges may be filed as the investigation progresses, with both State Police and federal agencies working to gather additional evidence officials said Monday.
