Delmarva-Area School Bus Rollover Sends 10 To Hospitals, One Critical

Just after 7:40 a school bus was involved in a rollover crash on Matthewstown Road (Maryland 328) in the area of Three Bridge Branch Road northeast of Easton, Maryland.

According to initial reports the crash involved an overturned school bus and second vehicle per the on scene commander. Several passengers from the bus were found on the ground by first arriving. Command at the scene declared the situation a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) due to the number of injured.

Multiple police and rescue agencies, including units from Easton and Cordova, as well as paramedics, responded to the crash site. Out of the 10 patients who were triaged, seven were reported to have sustained minor injuries. Two individuals were identified with serious injuries, while one patient was in critical condition. The patient in critical condition was transported to Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware for urgent medical attention. The other patients were transferred to local hospitals.

Command originally accounted for a total of ten patients with minor injuries. That number was updated to seven.

The roadway, Maryland 328, has been closed for investigation. Motorists are urged to exercise caution in the area and to seek alternative routes until further notice.

The first responders on the scene reported a heavy presence of fog in the vicinity.
