Officials Update Crash That Closed Route 13 Tuesday

On Tuesday morning at approximately 8:29, emergency services were dispatched to a severe motor vehicle collision at the intersection of North Dupont Highway and West Franklin Avenue. This incident involved two vehicles, with one of them overturned.

The New Castle County Paramedics, alongside the Wilmington Manor Fire Company, were among the primary responding agencies to this incident. They encountered a challenging situation where a 17-year-old male was trapped in his vehicle.

Following the extrication, the New Castle County Paramedics assessed the 17-year-old male for a possible knee injury. He was subsequently transported to Christiana Hospital, by a Basic Life Support Ambulance from Minquadale Fire Company. He was reported to be in stable condition.

Additionally, a 35-year-old male was treated at the scene for a potential head injury. His condition was critical, and he was also transported to Christiana Hospital by an ambulance from the Wilmington Manor Fire Company.

The Delaware State Police are leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this collision. The incident caused an extended closure of the southbound lane of N Dupont Highway at Bacon Avenue.

Other agencies that responded to this emergency included the Delaware State Police, Delaware Air National Guard, and additional units from the New Castle County EMS.
