Thursday Morning Fire Sends One To Hospital

Wilmington, DE – Early this morning, Wilmington Fire Department units were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 900 Block of Clifford Brown Walk. Arriving on the scene at 5:26, firefighters were met with smoke coming from the first floor of a two-story row house.

Upon entry, fire crews quickly located and extinguished a small blaze in the living room. A thorough search confirmed that the sole occupant had safely exited the building before the fire department’s arrival. The individual, suffering from smoke inhalation and minor burns to the hands, was transported to Wilmington Hospital by emergency medical services for treatment.

The Wilmington Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire. Working smoke detectors alerted the occupants of the fire.
