Donald Trump has officially secured the Republican nomination for the 2024 Presidential election. . Just before 3:30 PM on Monday, Florida’s delegates pushed Trump over the needed 1,215 delegates.
The counting stopped for a brief period after the threshold was topped to allow RNC goers time to celebrate. The counting has resumed.
Shortly before securing the nomination, Trump announced that he has selected Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his vice presidential running mate for the upcoming election.
In a post on Truth Social just minutes ago Trumpp said Senator Vance brings a distinguished background to the ticket. He served in the Marine Corps, completed his undergraduate studies at Ohio State University in an impressive two years, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and subsequently earned his law degree from Yale Law School. During his time at Yale, he was not only the Editor of The Yale Law Journal but also served as the President of the Yale Law Veterans Association.
Vance is widely recognized for his memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy,” which not only became a bestseller but was also adapted into a major motion picture. The book highlights the struggles and resilience of working-class Americans, a theme that resonates deeply with many of Trump’s supporters.
In addition to his literary accomplishments, Vance has had a successful career in technology and finance. His business acumen, combined with his deep understanding of the challenges facing American workers and farmers, positions him as a strong advocate for these communities.
According to the post, Vance will focus on key battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Minnesota, aiming to galvanize support from American workers and farmers.
