Four alarm fire keeping firefighters busy Tuesday morning

Firefighters are currently working a fire at 100 Amer Road in Wilmington. The fire was reported shortly after 5:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Arriving fire crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. The fire is believed to be centered around a conveyor belt system inside the structure. Attempts to move debris using a front-end loader have been unsuccessful due to poor visibility caused by thick smoke. Firefighters are working to establish a tower ladder operation to apply water from above.

At around 7:45 fourth alarm was struck bringing apparatus and firefighters to bringing the fire under control.

Fire departments from northern New Castle County, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and Salem County, New Jersey, are assisting at the scene. Paramedics from New Castle County are on standby as crews continue to battle the fire. No injuries have been reported at this time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
