Delaware State Police arrested 36-year-old Dion Garner of Preston, Maryland, and two 17-year-old males—one from Cambridge and the other from Delmar, Maryland—on multiple felony gun charges following a law enforcement response to a weapons complaint in Bridgeville on the night of April 9, 2025.
At approximately 9:56 p.m., troopers responded to the McDonald’s located at 18733 Sussex Highway after receiving reports of individuals inside a white vehicle allegedly brandishing firearms at patrons. Upon arrival, troopers observed a white Mazda in the parking lot and identified three males associated with the vehicle. One of the suspects began walking away as troopers approached. Troopers followed the path he had taken and discovered a loaded firearm with an extended magazine concealed between parked vehicles. With assistance from the Bridgeville Police Department, troopers conducted a search of the area and located the suspect, a 17-year-old from Cambridge. He fled on foot and physically resisted arrest before being taken into custody.
Another individual, later identified as the 17-year-old from Delmar, attempted to flee from the front passenger seat. He also resisted arrest, resulting in damage to a trooper’s uniform during the struggle. A loaded firearm was recovered from his waistband, and he initially provided officers with a false name and date of birth.
The third individual, rear passenger Dion Garner, was taken into custody without incident. A loaded firearm was located inside a bag on the floor of the vehicle in front of Garner’s seat. A computer check revealed that the weapon had been reported stolen by the New Kensington Police Department in Pennsylvania. Further investigation revealed that Garner, a convicted felon with active warrants, is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
All three suspects were transported to Troop 5, where they were formally charged.

Dion Garner was charged with aggravated menacing, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm within 10 years of a prior felony conviction, receiving a stolen firearm, and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $52,500 secured bond.
The 17-year-old male from Cambridge was charged with aggravated menacing, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person under 18, possession of a large-capacity magazine during the commission of a felony, second-degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest.
