Woman In Fatal Wrong-Way Crash Identified

The Delaware State Police continues to investigate a Greenville area crash that occurred Saturday afternoon after 77-year-old Linda Mahoney of Cochranville, Pennsylvania, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials said on May 10, 2025, at approximately 4:33 p.m., a 2025 gray Hyundai Kona was traveling in the northbound lane of Kennett Pike, south of Stone Brook Drive in Greenville. At the same time, a 2018 gray Hyundai Kona was traveling in the southbound lane of Kennett Pike, north of Stone Brook Drive.

For reasons under investigation, the 2018 Hyundai Kona drifted into the northbound lane of Kennett Pike, and into the 2025 Hyundai Kona’s path of travel, resulting in a head-on collision.

The passenger of the 2025 Hyundai Kona, identified as Linda Mahoney, was transported to an area hospital for life-threatening injuries. The driver, an 80-year-old man from Cochranville, Pennsylvania, was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. On May 12, 2025, Mahoney died from injuries sustained in the crash. Her family and relatives were notified.

The driver of the 2018 Hyundai Kona, a 20-year-old man from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and the 21-year-old male passenger were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
