The glow of Christmas lights and the sound of holiday music are set to return to the streets of Greenwood as the town prepares for its annual Santa’s Workshop Parade, a cherished tradition in this small Sussex County community. Each December, families gather along neighborhood roads as themed floats, festive tunes, and smiling participants turn the town into a moving celebration of the holiday season, rooted in togetherness and tradition.
On Friday, December 12, the parade will feature displays inspired by Santa’s workshop and classic Christmas scenes, transforming the route into a rolling holiday postcard. Children are expected to line the sidewalks in anticipation as the procession makes its way through town, many waiting for their first glimpse of Santa Claus to mark the official start of their Christmas countdown. Organizers said the evening will wrap up with an opportunity for families to take photos with Santa.
The holiday celebrations will continue just days later when Santa returns for a tour through Greenwood on December 15. The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company will escort Santa through town beginning at 6 p.m., with residents encouraged to follow the fire company’s Facebook page for updates on the route and timing as the date approaches.
Temporary road closures and traffic enforcement will begin at 6:30 p.m. along the designated parade route shown on the official map. Motorists are advised to plan alternate travel routes during the parade hours to avoid delays and to ensure the event can proceed safely.
