A Magnolia man has been arrested after Delaware State Police said he pointed a handgun at students riding a school bus police said Friday.
According to investigators, the incident occurred on June 9 at approximately 8:00 p.m. when the School Resource Officer assigned to Polytech High School was notified by school administrators about a cell phone video showing a man pointing a firearm toward students on a school bus.
Detectives determined that earlier that day, the school bus was traveling on Peachtree Run near Millchop Lane in Magnolia when a student sprayed water from a water gun at a man riding a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle alongside the bus. Police said the motorcyclist became upset after being sprayed, yelled at the students, then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the bus as it drove away.
Investigators identified the suspect as 62-year-old Charles McCombs of Magnolia and obtained an arrest warrant. McCombs was taken into custody without incident on June 11 and transported to Troop 3.
McCombs was charged with six counts of Aggravated Menacing and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Following arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 2, he was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $48,000 secured bail. The investigation remains ongoing.
