Troopers Looking For Suspect In Stabbing That Left Man In Critical Condition

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate a March 9, 2018 stabbing, that left a New Castle man in critical condition, and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the original incident occurred on Friday, March 9, 2018 at approximately 10:24 p.m., when Troopers responded to the area of Kirkwood Highway and Delaware Park Boulevard for a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival they found a 51-year-old, male victim with a stab wound to the body. The victim was removed from the scene by Emergency Medical Services and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Through various investigative leads and measures detectives were able to positively identify James M. Strong, 36, of Wilmington, as the stabbing suspect, said Austin. Active warrants charging Strong with Assault 1st Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Weapon by a Person Prohibited are currently on file.

Strong is reportedly homeless, but is known to frequent the Elsmere and Prices Corner area, along the Kirkwood Highway (DE Route 2) corridor.
