Police Update Fatal Minquadale School Bus Crash

New Castle County Police are investigating a crash that took the life of a teen Thursday.

At approximately 3:41 p.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the intersection of Memorial Drive and Karlyn Drive for a motor vehicle accident involving a school bus.

Upon their arrival, the officers found that a school bus, with twenty-two students onboard, struck a vehicle containing four teenage females.

The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene, a second passenger in the car, also a 16-year-old girl, was seriously injured and was transported to A.I. DuPont via Delaware State Police Aviation. Two other 16-year-old female passengers in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital with what police say are non-life-threatening injuries.

Two children, both 9-years-old, on the school bus, an Eisenberg Elementary school bus, were transported to A.I. DuPont for their injuries. Both boys were in stable condition at the time of transport. Radio reports indicated that they suffered minor injuries.

Investigators from the New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit arrived on scene and assumed the investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed this motor vehicle crash to contact New Castle County Division of Police.

Breaking Report

Minquadale – Rescue from the Minquadale Fire Company along with crews from surrounding companies, Medics, Trooper 4, County and State Police have responded to 60 Memorial Drive for a very serious accident.

Initial reports indicate that at least three patients have been injured and are en route to the trauma center.

The accident involves a vehicle and an occupied school bus. Troopers are reporting that there are no serious injuries on the school bus.

All of the seriously injured patients were in the vehicle according to reports from the scene.
