Harrington Police have arrested a Greenwood man after he pointed a firearm at juveniles police said Thursday.
Officials said on June 1, 2022, the Harrington Police Department arrested Justin Williams, 20 of Greenwood on numerous weapons and aggravated menacing charges.
At approximately 6:30pm, officers were notified of the incident where a male suspect drove near where four juvenile victims were riding bicycles on West Mispillion Street. As the vehicle approached the victims, a male, later identified as Williams, pointed a black rifle at the victims according to police. The victims all fled the scene and reported the incident to a parent, who in turn called 911.
While officers were gathering information from two of the victims and a parent, they were notified of a witness who had attained a tag number from the suspect vehicle and a description of the suspect. Officers were able to identify Williams as the suspect through the information provided by the witness said police.
Williams was contacted at his residence in Greenwood where he was taken into custody without incident. While at the scene, officers secured a black .22 caliber rifle. He was transported to Harrington PD where he was processed and charged with the following:
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (B Felony)
-Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Firearm (D Felony)
-Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone (D Felony)
-4 counts Aggravated Menacing (E Felony)
Williams was presented via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $50,000 cash bond.
