Rider In Critical Condition After Motorcycle Crash In Newark

A young motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck by a sedan Thursday night according to Paramedic Spokeswoman S/Sergeant Abigail Haas.

Haas said the incident occurred on Capitol Trail near Brewster Drive in Newark just after 8:00. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, including the New Castle County Paramedics and the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company of Newark.

According to reports, the collision caused the 25-year-old male motorcyclist to be forcibly ejected from his bike, resulting in significant long bone fractures and suspected internal injuries.

Following on-scene treatment, the motorcyclist was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

Additionally, occupants of the sedan involved in the accident also required medical attention. One individual was taken to Christiana Hospital by ambulance, and their condition was reported as stable. However, the second occupant declined any hospital transport.

Delaware State Police took charge of the investigation.
