A seemingly routine welfare check by the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) took an unexpected twist when a woman’s stolen vehicle became the center of attention according to police.
The incident, which unfolded in West Grove, Pennsylvania, left residents and law enforcement baffled.
Officials said on at 8:42 on Monday morning, PSP Troopers received a call requesting a welfare check on a woman in the area of the 2600-block of Gap-Newport Pike (SR-41) in London Grove Township, Pennsylvania.
Upon reaching the location, officers found a 55-year-old West Grove woman who had been walking along the roadside. While talking with the woman, she claimed that the individual who prompted the welfare check had just stolen her vehicle police said Tuesday.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle in question was a 2007 silver/aluminum Honda Fit belonging to the victim. Officials said an arrest warrant was secured for the suspect, identified as a 44-year-old Philadelphia woman, through the District Court.
