Photos: Driver Injured During Tractor-Trailer Rollover In Newark

On Saturday morning, at around 11:20 a.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 95 southbound near Route 896.

The incident involved a single overturned tractor-trailer, leading to the driver, a 42-year-old male, being briefly trapped within the cab. Emergency response crews worked to extricate the driver from the wreckage.

Following the driver’s extrication, he was transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton aboard an Aetna ambulance with New Castle County Paramedics accompanying. He was reported to be in stable condition, suffering from extremity injuries and potential internal injuries.

Hazardous material response teams (HAZMAT) along with the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) were dispatched to manage a spill at the scene.

The clean up and repairs closed the offramp for most of the day Saturday.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
