Happening Now: Bicyclist Airlifted After Middletown Crash Tuesday

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at approximately 2:28, a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Middletown Warwick Road and Levels Road in Middletown. A male cyclist in his 30s was reportedly struck by a vehicle, causing the rider to be thrown roughly 30 feet.

Emergency response crews from te Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, New Castle County Paramedics, Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4, along with Middletown Police responded to the incident. Due to the severity of the injuries, a landing zone for the helicopter was established in a grassy field at Levels Road and Patriot Drive.

The injured cyclist received immediate medical attention from those on scene and was airlifted by Trooper 4 to Christiana Hospital for further treatment. The condition of the cyclist remains undisclosed at this time.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Traffic in the area was temporarily affected as emergency services managed the scene.
