Two Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges Following Pursuit

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested two men on a series of gun and drug offenses following a vehicle pursuit that began in Bridgeville and concluded with arrests in Harrington.

On July 30, 2025, at approximately 3:05 p.m., members of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Dodge Charger traveling northbound on Coverdale Road near Seashore Highway. The vehicle, which had a registration violation, was occupied by two Black males. The driver failed to stop and fled onto Seashore Highway according to police. Due to the vehicle’s reckless driving, the pursuit was terminated for public safety.

A follow-up investigation led detectives from the Kent County Governor’s Task Force to Genesis Lane in Harrington, the residence of the vehicle’s registered owner. Upon arrival, detectives observed two men, later identified as 28-year-old Tracey Johnson (L) of Harrington and 26-year-old Joseph Davis (R) of Georgetown, attempting to conceal the Charger with a tarp. As officers approached, they witnessed Davis place an item under a landscaping trailer. Both men were detained without incident.

A search of the area showed approximately 1.95 grams of heroin on Davis and the key to the Dodge Charger in Johnson’s possession. Detectives subsequently searched the Dodge and the surrounding area, locating a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, AR-15 components and ammunition, and multiple controlled substances including 27.67 grams of acetaminophen and 10.70 grams of a xylazine-acetaminophen mixture. Digital scales and drug paraphernalia were also recovered.

Both suspects were transported to Troop 3, where they were charged with numerous felony offenses.

Tracey Johnson was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm or destructive weapon if previously convicted of a violent felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited who also possesses a controlled substance, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited due to a prior violent crime or felony, possession of a destructive weapon (sawed-off shotgun), two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, conspiracy in the second degree, disregarding a police officer’s signal, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, driving while suspended or revoked, expired or invalid temporary registration, and multiple traffic violations. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $89,500 cash bond.

Joseph Davis was charged with possession of a large capacity magazine during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon (semi-automatic or automatic) by a person prohibited who also possesses a controlled substance, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited due to a prior conviction for use, possession, or sale of drugs, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited due to a prior violent crime or felony, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, tampering with physical evidence, hindering prosecution, conspiracy in the second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $109,500 cash bond.
