Man Rescued After Falling Into A Well Saturday

Emergency crews responded late Saturday night after a worker fell into a well in the 200 block of Silver Lake Road, prompting a multi-agency technical rescue operation.

According to Assistant Public Information Officer Jamielee Majewski, the call was dispatched at approximately 10:47 p.m. on Saturday, for a person trapped inside a confined space. Units arrived to find a worker who had fallen into a well and sustained injuries.

Members of the New Castle County Paramedic Technical Rescue Team and the New Castle County Special Operations Team entered the confined space to provide patient care while coordinated rescue efforts were carried out. Fire and EMS personnel worked together to safely extricate the patient from the well.

New Castle County Paramedics treated an approximately 55-year-old male for a possible head injury at the scene. He was transported in serious condition to Christiana Hospital by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit.

Agencies assisting at the scene included New Castle County EMS, Volunteer Hose Company, Christiana Fire Company, Claymont Fire Company, Cranston Heights Fire Company, New Castle County Emergency Management, and the New Castle County Special Operations Team.

The incident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
