A Middletown man has been arrested and charged following an investigation into two burglary-related incidents in the Fairview Farms neighborhood.
Officers were first dispatched at approximately 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, to the unit block of Fairview Avenue for a reported burglary. Responding officers observed suspicious footprints around the residence that led to evidence of forced entry into the home. The victim reported that several valuable items had been taken from inside the residence.
A second call occurred on Friday, February 28, 2026, at approximately 11:10 a.m., when officers were dispatched to another residence in the unit block of Fairview Avenue for a reported attempted burglary. The suspect fled the area without entering the home.
Due to similarities between the two incidents, detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit assumed responsibility for the case. During the course of the investigation, detectives identified 35-year-old Eric Skipski of Middletown as the suspect in both incidents police said. Investigators later located and recovered some of the stolen property at a local pawn shop.
On Thursday, March 5, 2026, officers located Skipski at his residence on Fairview Avenue and took him into custody. He was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with burglary in the second degree, attempted burglary in the second degree, selling stolen property, two counts of criminal mischief over $1,000, and theft under $1,500.
Skipski was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $23,200 secured bail.
