14,000 Bags Of Fentanyl Found In The Woods

More than 14,000 bags of fentanyl were discovered Sunday evening in the woods near the Radnor Green neighborhood, according to the New Castle County Division of Police.

Police said the discovery was made on April 12, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m., when a young adult and a juvenile were walking through woods off Miles Road and found two grocery bags. After looking at the contents and believing the bags contained illegal narcotics, the pair returned home and told a family member, who then contacted police.

Officers responded to the area and observed that the contents appeared to be suspected narcotics. The two grocery bags, containing what police described as two large packages commonly referred to as bricks, were taken to New Castle County Police Headquarters for further analysis.

Police said testing later confirmed the substance was fentanyl. A count determined the two packages contained a total of 14,088 individual bags.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Castle County Division of Police at 302-573-2800 or call 911 in an emergency.

Police said suspected narcotics should not be touched or handled and that anyone who encounters them should keep a safe distance and notify law enforcement.
