Elkton, MD. – At approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning a vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree before rolling approximately 80 yards. Two patients were extricated from the vehicle and flown by Maryland State Police Helicopter to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
The crash occurred on I-95 South Bound at 213 in Cecil County, Maryland.
All South bound lanes were closed for more than an hour as rescue crews worked to free the passengers. North Bound lanes were closed as the the helicopter landed and again as it left for the hospital.
Reports indicate that the vehicle caught fire after the crash and responding Trooper’s were able extinguished the fire.
Witnesses at the scene indicated that one passenger may have died on scene. This story is developing
