Heavy Police Response To Possible Shooting In Newark, Police Tight Lipped

Newark –  Just before 10:00 this morning New Castle County Police converged on East Cherokee Drive, in the Cherokee Woods neighborhood for reports of a shooting.

Shortly thereafter rescue crews from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder, along with New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched to the scene.

One female patient was transported to Christiana Hospital with injuries to the face.  It’s unclear how the the patient was injured at this time.

Shortly after the patient was transported, police cordoned off the residence with police tape and posted an officer at the door.

Neighbors said that some sort of altercation took place and a weapon may have been pulled. Two people were initially placed in cuffs, according to neighbors.

New Castle County Police remain tight lipped regarding the incident. We will update this story when the NCCPD spokesman releases further details.

Cherokee Woods is just a few streets away from Chestnut Hill Estates, where a 20-year-old man what shot to death on March 28, 2018.
