Newark Police: Weekend Closure Of Christina Parkway Delayed Due To Weather

Newark –  Christina Parkway bridge work scheduled to begin on Friday March 6 – Monday March 9 will be pushed back a week according to Newark Police Spokesman, Lt. Fred Nelson.

Due to the weather forecast for this weekend, the closure of SR 4 Eastbound has been postponed. The closure has been rescheduled for the weekends of April 13, 2018 and April 20, 2018.

7 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018, pending weather.

7 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 until 5 am. on Monday, April 23, 2018, pending weather.

Christina Parkway Eastbound (Bridges over Christina Creek and Railroad) will be CLOSED between Elkton Road and SR 896/South College Avenue in Newark.

DelDOT’s contractor Eastern Highway Specialists will be making repairs to the structure’s expansion seals, backwall headers, milling, and sealing the bridge approach slabs.

In an effort to minimize the impact to the traveling public, the work will be accomplished the weekends of April 13, 2018 and April 20, 2018.

Traffic on Elkton Road will be detoured to Otts Chapel Road onto Chestnut Hill Road to SR 896.

Back on October 20, 2017 the bridge was closed due to emergency road repairs.
