County To Install EV Chargers At Parks And Libraries

On Monday officials gathered at the Woodlawn Library to unveil the county’s “100 EV Plugs Plan.” This initiative aims to make over 100 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging plugs available to the public at New Castle County Parks and Libraries.

As of the announcement, New Castle County currently provides eight public EV charging plugs, with four more set to become operational in the coming weeks at the newly opened Southern Park. The first phase of the “100 EV Plugs Plan” will see the installation of chargers and plugs at Woodlawn Library and Delcastle Park.

The comprehensive “100 EV Plugs Plan” will be funded by federal, state, and county taxpayers. A network of 106 publicly accessible Level 2 and Level 3 charging plugs across New Castle County at various public libraries and parks is planned. These new EV chargers will be equipped with built-in credit card readers, allowing users, who can pay via a mobile app or credit card.
