Fire Destroys Elsmere Building Wednesday

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating a Building fire that occurred on Wednesday, March 20, in Elsmere.

Chief Deputy Delaware State Fire Marshal Robert Fox said the Elsmere Fire Company was notified of a fire in the 400 block of Old Dupont Road, shortly before 9:00 AM.

Upon arrival they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a large building on the Paoli Services Industrial Complex. Mutual aid companies responded to assist with extinguishment. The building housed an automotive/mechanical servicing business.

Deputy Fire Marshal’s were called to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The incident is currently under investigation.

No injuries were reported. The building is a total loss and damage is estimated at 100,000.
