Four Injured In Thursday Night Crash

Just after 10:50 Thursday evening, the New Castle County Paramedics were requested to assist the Minquas Fire Company of Newport with a motor vehicle collision with entrapment. Fire and EMS units were called to respond to the 400 block of West Newport Pike, in Newport for a motor vehicle collision with injuries.

First arriving Fire Department personnel found a multi-vehicle collision with a female driver trapped in her
sedan. The New Castle County Paramedics treated 3 total patients. Their injuries were as follows:

An approximately 30-year-old female driver of a sedan was found to be trapped inside of her vehicle.
She was extricated by fire department personnel in approximately 25 minutes. The woman was treated
for extremity and possible internal injuries and transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, in
critical condition.

A 5-year-old male passenger in the same vehicle was treated for extremity injuries and transported to
the Nemours Hospital for Children in Rockland. He was in serious condition at the time of transport.

An 8-year-old female passenger of the sedan was transported to Nemours in stable condition.

A fourth patient was transported by basic life support ambulance for evaluation.
The Delaware State Police is investigating the incident.
