Body Found In The Water Along Wilmington’s Riverfront Sunday

The Wilmington Police Department is conducting a death investigation following the recovery of a body from the Wilmington Riverfront on Sunday.

Just before 12:30 p.m., emergency crews and police were dispatched to the area near the old ship cranes along the Jack Markell Trail after reports of a body in the water were received.

Responding crews, with assistance from a marine unit, confirmed the presence of a body and successfully removed the individual from the water. The person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released any details regarding the identity of the individual or the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation remains active, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
