Trooper Takes Out Utility Pole Friday Morning, Injuries Unknown

MARYDEL – In the early hours of Friday, rescue crews from the Marydel Volunteer Fire Company responded to the intersection of Westville Road and Parkers Chapel Road following reports of wires down resulting from a crash.

Emergency dispatchers received the call at approximately 1:35 a.m. and initiated a response from fire personnel. An ambulance was later added to the incident to evaluate a Delaware State Trooper reportedly at the scene.

On Saturday, an image viewed by First State Update showed the aftermath of the collision. The photograph depicts a Delaware State Police Chevrolet Tahoe that had struck a utility pole, causing significant damage to the vehicle. The impact cracked the pole in half, leaving utility wires downed across the roadway.

As of Saturday afternoon, Delaware State Police have not issued a public statement regarding the crash, nor have they released information on whether the involved Trooper sustained any injuries.
