Crash Claims Life Of 91-Year-Old Newark Man

The Delaware State Police continue to investigate a two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday afternoon in the Newark area and has since resulted in the death of 91-year-old William Blevins of Newark.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 4:31 p.m., a gray 2013 RAM 1500 was traveling southbound on Sunset Lake Road, north of Broadleaf Drive in Newark. Officials said according to their preliminary investigation, a brown 2017 Honda Accord was possibly traveling ahead of the RAM in the same direction. For reasons still under investigation, the Honda allegedly attempted to make a wide U-turn into the northbound lane of Sunset Lake Road. During this maneuver, the Honda entered the RAM’s path of travel, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles police said.

The driver of the Honda, identified as William Blevins, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. On May 12, 2025, he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the RAM, a 60-year-old man from Bear, Delaware, was not injured in the crash.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
