Fire Crews Injured In Edgemoor Fire

Edgemoor – Fire crews battled a fire at the IKO manufacturing plant on Thursday.  Around 11:15 a.m. several fire companies were dispatched to 120 Hay Road for a building fire. According to authorities crews escalated the blaze to a second alarm around 11:30 a.m. As part of the escalation several New Castle County Paramedics units and ambulance crews were also assigned to the incident.

New Castle County Paramedics reported that they transported three firefighters to the Christiana Hospital. No details were provided regarding injuries or conditions.

New Castle County Paramedics Release:

August 25, 2016: At 11:16 am several fire companies were dispatched to IKO Manufacturing for a building fire. Fire department units upgraded the assignment at 11:28 hours, reporting a “working” alarm. New Castle County Paramedics were subsequently dispatched to the incident as a part of the medical support assignment. At one point, four paramedic units and five ambulances were assigned to the incident, following an upgrade to a second alarm assignment by the incident commander. Three firefighters were transported to the Christiana Hospital. New Castle County Paramedics remained on scene to provide medical coverage and assist with firefighter rehab until shortly before 4:00 pm.
