Two-Alarm House Fire In Cambridge Causes $200K In Damage

Early Tuesday morning the occupants of a Travers Street home in Cambridge, Maryland experienced a heartbreaking house fire. The occupants did not suffer any injuries, however, the damage to property was estimated to be a loss of $100,000 for the structure and an additional $100,000 for the contents.

The two-alarm house fire, discovered by the occupants at 7:24 a.m., was quickly brought under control by the Cambridge Rescue Fire Company along with assisting companies. Within twenty minutes of arriving, a total of 35 firefighters extinguished the fire.

The smoke alarm in the home was present and activated, alerting the occupants to the fire, who were able to get out safely.

The preliminary cause of the fire was traced back to an electrical issue in the basement officials said.
